Q. How long have you been involved with The Open Group?
I have just recently started getting involved with The Open Group and the SOSA® Consortium. While I am new to this Consortium, I bring extensive experience from my past work with other bodies of standards, including VITA, IEEE, TIA, IEC, and COBO. Over the years, I have actively contributed to shaping industry standards, particularly in the areas of optical communication technologies and fiber optic connectors.
Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?
I have held various leadership roles, including managing global teams and driving product development and strategic initiatives. I’ve worked extensively in optical communication solutions, particularly parallel optics, VSFF connectors, and expanded beam technology. At KITCO Fiber Optics, I work on developing advanced fiber optic solutions, contributing to the growth of our company through innovation and partnerships, such as our involvement in the SOSA Consortium.
Q. Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group SOSA Consortium and what does/will your involvement look like?
KITCO Fiber Optics joined the SOSA Consortium to align with industry standards in modular open systems architecture. Through our participation, we aim to help shape and promote open standards that streamline integration, enhance system performance, and reduce costs across the defense and telecommunications sectors. As a fiber optics expert, my deep knowledge and experience in the field contribute to our involvement, which includes collaborating on technical specifications and leveraging the consortium’s platform to drive innovation in connectivity solutions.
Q. How has/will membership in The Open Group benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large?
Our membership in The Open Group, particularly through the SOSA Consortium, enables KITCO Fiber Optics to stay at the forefront of industry standards and innovation. It allows us to collaborate with other leading companies and government entities, ensuring that our solutions are compliant with cutting-edge standards. For the industry, it facilitates the advancement of open, interoperable systems that reduce costs and improve performance across C5ISR systems. Personally, it enhances my ability to contribute to standardization efforts and apply best practices within our product development processes.
Q. Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?

Q. What are your hobbies?
Outside of work, I enjoy playing tennis and golf, which allow me to stay active while also enjoying friendly competition. These sports provide a great way to relax and connect with others. I also love traveling, as it helps me connect with people from different cultures and broaden my perspectives.
Q. What book are you currently reading?
I am currently reading "Quantum Computation and Quantum Information" by Michael A. Nielsen and Isaac L. Chuang. This book provides a comprehensive foundation in quantum computing, a field I’m deeply fascinated by. The insights from this book are helping me stay informed about the latest advancements in quantum technologies, which I believe have the potential to reshape various industries, including telecommunications and AI.

I am active on LinkedIn, where I connect with industry professionals, share insights on telecom and optical communication technologies, and engage with the latest trends in the field. Additionally, I follow several industry-related groups and Forums to stay updated on developments in fiber optics, lean manufacturing, and open standards.
